The British International Studies Association launches a new blog, International Studies Today (IST), on 1 March 2015. The blog is designed to alert readers to innovative research and to provide a forum for discussing contemporary international issues. The blog also seeks to be a bridge between the scholarly and policy communities, and to connect BISA’s diverse research networks.
We are calling for bids from prospective editors of IST to ensure its successful launch and first period. We envisage small teams of two or three editors, who would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the blog’s functioning: ensuring a flow of high-quality material, thinking of innovative features and forums, editing material, publicising the blog, and connecting to cognate resources in the field of International Studies.
We see this as an exciting opportunity for career development and networking. The editors will benefit from BISA’s full logistical support for the operation of the blog. BISA will also waive the registration fee for one of the editors at each annual BISA conference, and make a contribution to their travel and accommodation expenses.
It is required that editors of IST will be members of BISA. Any prospective editors who are not existing members will be expected to become members should their bid be successful.
Please send a statement of interest of no more than two pages, outlining your vision and ideas for IST, your plans for its management, and your qualifications to act as its editors. Please also include a one-page CV for each of the proposed editors, and an example from each editor of a 500-800 word blog entry that you have written.
The deadline for applications is 27 March 2015. They should be sent by e-mail to the BISA office.
