The Intervention and Responsibility to Protect Working Group (IR2PWG) will provide an interdisciplinary forum for engagement and deliberation within which scholars and research students from IR, Political Science, History, International Law, Philosophy and Sociology can meet in a focused academic environment to discuss and present their work, network, and contribute to joint publications and organise collaborative funding bids. The IR2PWG will actively encourage innovative thinking and research from a wide-range of perspectives, both supportive and critical, and seek to engage with those in the policy community who work on related issues. We believe that this working group offers a timely and important opportunity to facilitate scholarship on the increasingly important subjects of intervention and the R2P. Furthermore, IR2PWG will actively seek to attract a wide range of perspectives which revaluate the historical legacy of the R2P. As a result, the intention is to develop knowledge and understanding in relation to the R2P's conceptual origins, present applicability, and future potential.
