Working groups

BISA currently has about 30 working groups affiliated to the association. The groups are active through out the year and bring together academics with similar interests be it through their fields of study, research and / or teaching. BISA members are encouraged to join these groups and funding is available to the groups from BISA to assist with organising events and other working group activities.

Working Group Update
After a thorough review of Working Groups’ activities by the BISA Research sub-committee and the Board of Trustees, we regret to inform colleagues that the Human Security WG has been de-recognised as a BISA Working Group. This action is in line with procedures indicated in the BISA Working Groups Code of Practice, as published on our website. NASPIR has also disbanded. However, should BISA members seek to revive it, or to establish a new WG in that area, they are free to do so, and should contact the vice chair. inderjeet.parmar (at) manchester.ac.uk

Funding for Working Groups

BISA annually awards a number of small grants to working groups amounting to £10,000 to fund actitivities such as meetings, workshops, etc.  To find out more about these awards click here.  The working groups can also apply for a larger grant for use in running a workshop to find out more about this click here.

New working groups

If you are a BISA member who wants to set up a new working group in an area not already covered by established groups, please contact the Research committee Chair Inderjeet Parmar for advice on how to go about this at inderjeet.parmar (at) manchester.ac.uk.
