Emotions in IR Thesis Prize 2024

The Emotions in Politics and IR Working Group has announced the 2024 Thesis Prize, to be awarded for the best doctoral thesis on emotions in Politics and IR. 

The Prize is sponsored by the Emotions in Politics and International Relations (EPIR) Working Group, in collaboration with the Brill Critical Emotion Studies book series.

The winning thesis will be chosen by a panel nominated by the conveners of the EPIR working group, and the co-editors of the Brill Critical Emotion Studies series.

The winner of the Thesis Prize will be offered the opportunity to meet with the Brill Critical Emotion Studies series editors and to submit the thesis for consideration for publication with Brill.

The Prize will be awarded at the 2024 BISA annual conference.

Eligibility

  • Theses must have been submitted in the past three years (on or after 1 March 2021)
  • For the purposes of this award, 'emotions in Politics and IR' is broadly and interdisciplinarily conceived, but award-winning theses will make a significant contribution to debates in this field
  • The thesis needs to be an original, unpublished work and must not be under review elsewhere.
  • The thesis must not have been submitted for consideration to any previous iteration of the Emotions in Politics and IR Thesis Prize
  • Applicants do not need to be BISA members, and they are not required to attend the 2024 annual conference.

  • Letters of recommendation are not required; self-submission is encouraged.
