This virtual roundtable, brought to you by Review of International Studies (RIS) and the Department of International Relations at LSE, is free and open to all.
We will bring together authors from the RIS special issue ‘Existentialism and International Politics’ (Volume 49 - Special Issue 5) to examine the relations between contemporary International Relations and Existentialism, which to date lurks, largely unnoticed, in IR’s shadows and background. What, we ask, is the relation between IR scholarship and the existentialist intellectual and cultural tradition? How is IR informed and animated by existentialist thinking? Is Existentialism a heritage for IR to recover and embrace or a burden to be escaped? What resources does Existentialism furnish us for thinking through pressing world political problems today?
