Inaugural Astropolitics Working Group annual lecture: Professor Dr Kai-Uwe Schrogl
The newly-founded BISA Astropolitics Working Group is delighted to invite you to our Inaugural annual lecture which will be delivered by Professor Dr Kai-Uwe Schrogl, President of the International Institute for Space Law and Special Advisor for Political Affairs at the European Space Agency. We have asked Professor Schrogl to reflect on the current state of international politics in outer space, the evolving space policy landscape in Europe, and the value of astropolitical research for practitioners. Please join us for a fascinating lecture on space policy from both academic and practitioner perspectives, followed by a Q&A session.
Professor Schrogl works for the European Space Agency ESA as Special Advisor for Political Affairs. Between 2019 and 2021, he was seconded to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin to support the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Until 2019, he was the Chief Strategy Officer of ESA in Paris. From 2007 to 2011 he was the Director of the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) in Vienna. Prior to this, he was the Head of the Corporate Development and External Relations Department in the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne. He holds a doctorate degree in political science and lectures international relations as an Honorary Professor for international technology policy at Tübingen University, Germany. Kai-Uwe Schrogl has written or co-edited 20 books and more than 140 articles, reports and papers in the fields of space policy and law.
