Ethics and World Politics Seminar Series

We are very happy to announce the launch of the Ethics and World Politics Seminar Series.

After discussion among the convenors and members at the BISA conference in Edinburgh, we have decided to have a series of seminars across the year rather than a single annual research meeting. The seminars will be a place for scholars interested in Ethics and World Politics to present work in progress and get feedback from those working in the field on an ongoing basis.

Each session will be a day long seminar with three papers presented, each paper will have a discussant and there will be time for extended questions and confabulation – and socialisation too! We will seek to balance presentation so that it will include a mix of senior faculty, junior faculty and advanced PhD students/postgraduate researchers – we will also seek to include a diversity of approaches and topics where possible.

Rather than have the seminar hosted at one institutions, which would limit who was able to participate, the host institution will rotate. Our plan for this year is to hold the first seminar in September in Leicester, the second in January in London, and the third in April in Leeds. In future, we hope the series can continue to travel around the UK – do get in touch if you have a department, school or research centre that would like to host a future seminar.

The first seminar will be hosted by the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Leicester on Wednesday 21st September. We will kick off mid-morning, run though the day, and end early enough to enjoy a post-seminar drink nearby. Further details coming soon!

If you are interested in presenting at one of the seminar meetings please get in touch – presentation should be based on substantive work in progress that can be distributed to participants before the seminar and relate to Ethics and World Politics, broadly understood. Also, if you would like to serve as a discussant for the seminar please get in touch as well.
