Call for papers: Emotions in Politics and International Relations Working Group best thesis prize 2025

The Emotions in Politics and International Relations Working Group (EPIR) is announcing the 2025 Thesis Prize, to be awarded for the best doctoral thesis on emotions in Politics and IR. The Prize is sponsored by the EPIR Working Group, in collaboration with the Brill Critical Emotion Studies book series. The winning thesis will be chosen by a panel nominated by the conveners of the EPIR working group, and the co-editors of the Brill Critical Emotion Studies series.

The winner of the Thesis Prize will be offered the opportunity to meet with the Brill Critical Emotion Studies series editors and to submit the thesis for consideration for publication with Brill. The Prize will be awarded at the 2025 BISA annual conference. If the winner is unable to attend #BISA2025, we will organize an online event to celebrate the prize.

 Eligibility

Theses must have been submitted in the past three years (on or after 1 March 2022). For the purposes of this award, 'emotions in Politics and IR' is broadly and interdisciplinarily conceived, but award-winning theses will make a significant contribution to debates in this field. The thesis needs to be an original, unpublished work and must not be under review elsewhere. The thesis must not have been submitted for consideration to any previous iteration of the Emotions in Politics and IR Thesis Prize. Applicants do not need to be BISA members, and they are not required to attend the 2025 annual conference.
