Book talk: Antiblackness and Global Health (2024)

This event will be in Zoom
-

We are excited to extend an invitation to you to join the next event from the Global Health Working Group.

Speaker: Dr Lioba Hirsch

Dr Lioba Hirsch’s recently published book offers a new account of the 2014-2016 West African Ebola outbreak and through it explores the racial politics of global health. It offers a comprehensive critique of antiblackness in global health and looks to Black Studies for the critical toolkit with which to question and challenge contemporary racial inequalities in global health practice and politics.

About the Global Health Working Group

We are a friendly group of researchers with an interest in global heath and international politics. We host a range of virtual, hybrid and in-person events on topics such as global health security, politics, and pedagogy. The Working Group provides a platform for both early-career and established scholars to present and discuss their work. Whether you work on public health, international relations, geography or any other related field, we hope you join us.

Registration will close two hours before the event begins.
