The Gender and IR working group ran a mentoring and networking session co-sponsored with the Gender Institute at Royal Holloway, University of London in-person in Egham 3-4 June 2024, leading up to the BISA 2024 conference. More than a dozen mentors and mentees discussed professional development issues like publishing, the job market, and navigating conferences applicable across the field, as well as issues related to navigating academia as a woman and navigating academia as a feminist.

A mentoring session in action

The participants toured the Royal Holloway grounds, chapel, and picture gallery, and enjoyed meals and networking opportunities before setting off for BISA 2024 in Birmingham. If you were unable to attend but are interested in providing or receiving mentoring with GIRWG (or both), stay tuned for our Autumn online event.
