Work for us - Events and Communications Assistant
The British International Studies Association (BISA) is a leading voice in International Studies in the UK and abroad. We develop and promote the discipline through research, publications, events, academic networks and funding. We are a non-profit charity.
Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Oxford area, predominantly home based but with some travel required for events/annual conference
Interview date: 6 and 7 August 2024
Key responsibilities: We are looking for a self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic Events and Communications Assistant to support a small team of dedicated staff. A high standard of customer service is essential. The role will be varied but you will typically be expected to:
- assist with the administration, management and hosting of our virtual and face-to-face programme of events
- assist with all aspects of our annual conference including using our conference management software
- assist with the creation and upkeep of spreadsheets and ability to report on data.
- assist with communications such as member newsletters, website content and promotion of our publications
- other ad hoc admin and communications tasks as required.
Person specification:
Predominantly working from home but with daily BISA online contact, the position might suit someone who is either at the beginning of their career or has an interest in international affairs and is keen to support and be part of a hardworking and dynamic team. Training and support will be provided.
No prior experience is necessary but a can do attitude and willingness to learn on the job is essential. An understanding of charities is an advantage.
You will:
- be educated to at least A level standard
- have excellent IT skills, including use of Outlook, Word, Excel and internet skills
- excellent organisational and communication skills
- be self-motivated and have good time management skills
- have good attention to detail
- be confident and articulate.
The position is full time at £23,144 with 26 days holiday, bank holidays plus closed between Christmas and New Year.
